If you ever doubted the old slogan "Your Vote Counts," Charles Cermak and Allen Murvine can assure you it is true. Both candidates collected exactly 576 votes in the village board race in Island Lake.

According to state election law, the race now has to be decided by a coin flip or other random mechanism.
