Island Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Report
The Island Lake Chamber of Commerce has a new logo, so be sure to visit their website to see their new look. While you are there, the Chamber invites you to take a look at the business directory and see all the many local businesses that have joined together to promote business and provide support to the community.
The Chamber’s theme this year is: "Shop Local".
Some things you probably did not know:
- Local businesses participate in local events and are more likely to contribute to local fundraising.
- Local businesses provide a majority of local jobs.
- Local businesses are owned by and employ your friends and neighbors.
- The sales taxes you pay supports your community. Monies collected keep you safe by manning and equipping your fire and police departments, fix your roads, maintain your parks, subsidize your community events and more. Spend that money in another city and your services will suffer.
- Local business owners invest in their community and help build a better future for its citizens.
- The Island Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is now on facebook®!
The Chamber would like to welcome their newest chamber members: Any Kut, John Beltramo, Psy., D., Clean Cabin, LLC, Electrical Progression Ind., LLC and M&M Consultants.
The 2011 Annual Scholarship recipients were:
- Breanna Glavey
- Natalia Kedzior
- Alex Russell
- John Verdico.
Each received a $500 scholarship towards their tuition in the fall.
The Chamber would like to thank all the students who took the time to apply for this scholarship.
This year’s annual carnival, which funds the annual scholarships awarded local high school graduating seniors, was almost rained out. But many attended in between the rain drops and still volunteered. For them, the Chamber is grateful.
The annual 4th of July parade hosted by the Village of Island Lake was a huge success. The Island Lake Area Chamber of Commerce was represented by:
- Camping World RV Sales
- Guru Nanak Sikh Mission of America
- Lots of Tots Child Care
- Martin Insurance Agency
- MC Nutrition
- Sharp Auto Body
- Timmermanns Ranch & Saddle Shop
- and Wratten Enterprises, Inc.
You can see some of the pictures on the Chamber website, as well as on facebook®.
