Life Lessons: "Practice Appreciation In All Your Relationships"
Last week I spoke to a group of female financial advisors for Edward Jones. The topic was relationships. At the end of our lives nobody on their death bed asks to be rolled over to the window to see their Mercedes Benz one more time. Nobody asks to see their bank statements so they can review how much money they have. Everybody wants to be surrounded by people they love and people that love them. It's just that simple and that difficult. Therefore, this months life lesson is… "Practice appreciation in all your relationships". What we focus on will always expand. When you appreciate people, you are focusing on the positive. The result will be more of the positive. For example, if your spouse is constantly leaving dirty dishes in the sink, focus on and appreciate them for what they do that you want more of, such as taking out the garbage, helping with the kids, having dinner made...the list can go on and on. Never under estimate the power of a few kind words. I often talk about habits. Make appreciating everybody you have a relationship with be part of your daily routine. Granted this is often the most difficult with the people you spend the most time with, but it is also where you will get the most incredible results! You will be amazed at how much more joy you will bring into the world! And such joy will surely return to you magnified greatly. "Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well." -- Voltaire Have a great month and a special "Happy Birthday" goes out to my brother who was born on Halloween!! Till next month, enjoy the ride! Louie Sharp Certified Professional Success Coach Sharp-Skills Inc.
