From the Mayor's Desk
2011 was a very challenging year for the Village of Island Lake. The changes to the Village Board back in May have allowed the Village to rebound from the adversity and we are now making progress in all areas of the Village. This spring, Thornton’s came back to the negotiation table and they are on target for their grand opening the first week of December. We have also completed agreements with developers and banks of the residential areas on the north side of the Village. Both the Walnut Glen and Prairie Woods Subdivisions were left unfinished by the developers when the economy turned. We have successfully negotiated to have dirt piles removed, sidewalks poured, public areas seeded, trees planted and streets paved. Shortly after the first of the year, the Strategic Planning Committee will reconvene to continue work on the Commercial Comprehensive Plan. The current Village Board has a strong commitment to you the residents. It is our goal to continue to make significant improvements to our Village, keep our neighborhoods safe and provide community events for families to enjoy.

I'm just a beginner in this environment, so I'd like to get information for beginners.
